The Fete Renaissance - Lourmarin

The Fete Renaissance - Lourmarin

This is Nathalie. She is my new friend I met the first week of my stay in Lauris. She is an artist who mainly works in printmaking. Her dog is named Boggie and her cat is Minette. There are a lot of stray cats in the village and Nathalie decide to adopt this one.

She volunteers at the chateau in Lourmarin and she informed me of a Renaissance festival happening. So off we went for my first visit to Lourmarin. In reality I posted these backwards because I decided while writing my last post to document each village I visit so I can share lots of images and a few stories. This visit required its own post and was actually a separate visit from the latest posting about Lourmarin.

Above are the Koi fish and one donkey of several that live on the castle grounds.

The Chateau was built in several phases. The Fortress was originally made in the 12th and 13th centuries. Not much of this still exists. The rest of the castle was constructed in the 15th and 16th century. At some point the castle was abandoned and sat empty and ready for demolition. In the 1920’s the castle was saved and refurbished.
