Ritual Making – Hapa Zome
June 10 am – 3 pm R A W Textiles Studio – Portland , Oregon
The art of Hapa Zome is simply smashing the pigment out of fresh plants to create color and print. I will show you how to mix modifiers that will change the intensity and hue of everything you print.
We will make cotton and linen samples to get you warmed up and then we can create several 16″ square pieces that are composed with the leaves and petals that Rio has collected or that the group has brought in to share. That being said I encourage you to bring in cuttings of things you would like to try printing . This could be flowers or leaves that you think may give a color. We will identify them and make a test sample. As a collective we will see the results and and share in this experience.
All materials are included in class fee.
We will take a half hour break to recharge and snack. Rio will provide tea and coffee plus a healthy variety of nibbles. Please bring anything you might need.
